They are very hardy and prolific. Having 5-12 piglets per litter and often rear them all. Normally Vietnamese pigs have less bad mother problems like swishing and rejection of piglets than other breeds. They are docile and unlike commercial breeds they are not pushy, aggressive and don't squeal all the time.

Vietnamese also make great pets they can be trained to be house clean like a cat using a litter tray. They are good with livestock and children.Pigs - Eco ferme copyright 'all rights reserved'

Vietnamese are great smallholder pigs being a small breed they eat less. You could feed 2 sows and 1 boar to one normal large white sized pigs. Meaning its easier to do "small scale breeding" with table scrap and farm product waste.

The meat of the Vietnamese has a much better flavour very similar to that of the wild boar. (the fat is also tasty).

They love eating dinner tables scrapes, dry bread, potatoes peelings, also grains like wheat & barley.

Although care must be taken on making sure they don't get over fed & fat.

Use for turning the ground over in the woodland and our vegetable gardens. Pigs naturally turn over the ground in the search for grubs, chestnuts, acorns & roots.

After the pigs have finished the area is clean and ready for planting.
