Making a living barrier
We cleared the area first of the old rotten barbed wire fence and brambles. Then with a hand fencepost knocker, we put in recycled old hardwood posts spaced at 1 metre intervals.
This accomplished, we then weaved all the plants that were growing near the fence, wild vines, hawthorn & hornbeam.
In places that lacked living plants we weaved in long branches to fill the gaps.
After achieving a cow proof 1.30m high fence, we planted willow at 30cm spaces, to eventually weave in to take the place of the decaying dry branches.
